He walked onto The Voice Australia stage in heels and sang Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" to four chairs that could not see him. Jimi performed "Wicked Game" for his Blind Audition on The Voice Australia 2020, Season 9, on the Nine Network, with coaches Boy George, Delta Goodrem, Guy Sebastian and Kelly Rowland. Every coach turned, and what followed was one of the longest pitches of the season. Guy Sebastian told him that self belief does not come from what you put on and that he did not care what Jimi wore. Boy George answered that he cared very much what Jimi wore, and what he sounded like. Jimi chose Team Guy. Boy George called the decision ridiculous on the spot and then suggested the two of them start a band together. Before the audition, Jimi said he hoped to turn just one chair so that whoever it was would spin around surprised. He turned all of them. He also said he started out performing in nightclubs, and that the first night he walked out in heels felt like freedom.
